Perot was a French physicist born in 1863 and died in 1925. He co-developed the Fabry-Pérot interferometer with Charles Fabry in 1899. They published on its theory and spectroscopy applications that year. French Academy of Sciences gave Perot the Janssen Medal in 1912. Royal Society awarded Perot and Fabry the Rumford Medal in 1918. Perot's name spelling confuses: he used Pérot in publications but civil registry lists Perot without accent.
