Czechs plan new nuclear power plant in Tušimice 100km northeast of Tirschenreuth Germany. Plant to have maximum six reactors. Construction starts 2034 operation 2038 lifetime 80 years. German anti-nuclear groups and Bavarian Greens oppose project. Bavarian Environment Ministry seeks extended Czech objection deadline to July 2025. Green spokesperson Monika Schneider calls project madness due to unsolved nuclear waste disposal. Unclear if plant uses single large reactors or multiple small modular reactors SMRs. Czechia currently has two nuclear plants with six blocks total. Dukovany has four WWER-440 reactors totaling 2040MW producing 37% of national net electricity. Temelín has two WWER-1000 reactors totaling 2090MW.
