King Kang ruled Zhou dynasty as third king from 1020-996 BC. He was son of King Cheng. He continued father's policy of expansion. Zhou territory grew north and west under him. He repressed rebellion in the east. Life prospered during his reign. He was succeeded by son King Zhao. His wife was Wang Jiang of Jiang clan. Crown Prince Xia was his son who became King Zhao. His personal name was Ji Zhao. Posthumous name means Joyful King of Zhou.
