Arma derives from Proto-Anatolian *ʿOrmo- meaning wanderer. Hittites and Luwians extensively worshipped Arma unlike Hattian Kašku. Luwians linked Moon to pregnancy months so Arma protected pregnant women and births. Hittite words armaḫḫ- means to impregnate and armai- means to be pregnant. Arma guaranteed oaths in state treaties. Arma's wife was Nikkal from Mesopotamian Ningal. Hattian myth has Moon god Kašku fall from heaven into Laḫzan punished by weather god's rain then saved by goddesses Ḫapantali and Kamrušepa. Arma equated to Hurrian Kušuḫ in Hittite Song of Silver where Moon god loses to demon Ušḫuni and gets thrown from heaven. In Syria Arma merged with Harran Moon god cult by 1st millennium BC. Pre-Christian Georgian supreme deity Armazi ties heavily to Hittite Arma. Arma name survived in Anatolia as Galatian Αρμεδυμνος and Ερμεδυμνος combining Arma moon with Celtic -dumnos world.
