Ginger is a well-preserved predynastic male mummy from Gebelein Egypt dated 3400 BC. He was 18-21 years old at death and stood 1.63 meters tall. His red hair earned him the nickname Ginger. Body naturally mummified by hot dry sand in shallow grave absorbing moisture. Buried in fetal position with pottery vessels. CT scans show shoulder blade damaged and rib shattered from stab wound. Injuries indicate deliberate murder by copper or flint blade at least five inches long. Stabbed in the back suggesting assault from behind. Discovered in 1896 and displayed at British Museum since 1901. Lies in curled position typical of predynastic burials. No intentional mummification developed yet.
