Chemist: composition of fireworks has changed little for centuries

Gunpowder is still the primary ingredient in fireworks, whose flashes we can enjoy on New Year's Day. Fireworks were known as far back as medieval China, but it is only since the 19th century that their composition has made it possible to create multicolored spectacles, a chemist from the UW told PAP.
