NCBJ: superheavy element isomers may be much more stable than previously thought
Go to the source page
Some isomeric states of superheavy elements may have lifetimes measured in seconds, which are tens of thousands of times longer than the lifetimes of their highly unstable ground states. If such exotic nuclear states are produced experimentally, they will be stable enough to study their chemical properties.
