UVC-emitting light-emitting diodes and solid-state lasers could be useful for rapid disinfection, as UVC effectively and cheaply fights viruses and bacteria. In the era of the Covid-19 pandemic, potential sources of UVC light are being intensively studied by many teams. Such work is also being carried out by PAN scientists.
