In the immensity of our Galaxy, astrophysicists have been tracking pevatrons, natural particle gas pedals with gigantic energies, for years. Thanks to the HAWC Cosmic Ray Observatory, they have just come across another likely sign of their existence: photons with some of the highest energies. Even the likely place of their origin has been determined.
