Poland a Colony of Corporations? The Polish Development Model. Andrzej Sadowski

Past actions have contributed to the current economic structure in a way that has been characterized primarily by favoring foreign corporations at the expense of domestic entrepreneurs . Key aspects of this influence are: Creating imbalances and discrimination Polish governments created deep competitive imbalances and made Polish companies always have it worse in their own country , . Favoritism of foreign capital Governments granted all possible tax privileges, concessions and grants to foreign corporations ,,. Moreover, finance ministers had the power to cancel debts, mainly to foreign corporations ,. This model, favoring foreign companies and discriminating against domestic entrepreneurs, can be called the model of post-colonial elites . High cost of job creation Jobs in subsidized multinational corporations were created through gigantic tax exemptions and privileges at the expense of all taxpayers . One such job cost several million zlotys to be taken away from Polish entrepreneurs and citizens . Privatization and liquidation of jobs Top-down privatization continued, which liquidated jobs and entire enterprises, considering them doctrinally incapable of surviving in the free market . Lack of support for domestic capital Governments did not give Polish citizens a chance to invest in non-speculative paper, such as a public mortgage bond ,. That the Polish economy grew was due to Polish private companies, not foreign corporations, and occurred despite the harmful policies of successive governments . Over-regulation Poland is one of the more over-regulated countries in the European Union . It is worth noting that experts question the existence of a conscious, long-term "Polish model of development" . Milton Friedman, on the other hand, advised the Polish government to create conditions for its own entrepreneurs to succeed, which would be the best way to attract foreign capital - stating that the Polish government should do "Nothing" to attract capital directly .
