Longest experiment in history: bursting carbon pitch drops since 1927

The coal-pack experiment started in 1927 continues to this day. Professor Parnel wanted to prove that carbon is a liquid with high viscosity. After his death, the experiment continued, and drop number 7 fell during an exhibition in 1988. We are currently waiting for the 10th drop.
