Optics of light: how to decompose white light into its component colors and see shadows in other colors

Three flashlights emitting white light can be decomposed into component colors using a piece of paper with a notch. The shadows cast by the objects will be cyan, magenta and yellow, which can be seen by passing them through the notch.
