The deadliest trips - Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea is one of the world's last lawless lands, located 150 kilometers north of Australia. The city of Lae is the country's economic capital, here the name "city of holes" is more commonly used. It's a sorry sight, with dilapidated roads, crowded minibuses and extreme levels of poverty. There is uncertainty on the streets, and the police are ineffective in trying to maintain law and order. Locals are turning to private security companies. Papua New Guinea has one of the highest crime rates in the world. Papua New Guinea is an island half the size of France, but with a road network that is virtually non-existent. Only 3 major roads are barely paved, yet road transportation is crucial to the country.
