The authors claim that it is impossible to draw a line between hominids and modern humans, so the skull with typical hominid features was classified as "early Homo sapiens." The skull in question has many hominid features: eyebrow arch, jaws not acquired, rounded forehead, low cranial volume. Are skeletons of this type, dating to the end of the Paleolithic, forcibly considered "early Homo sapiens" because some modern populations (in addition, from the same geographic area) also have these features? Yes, less prominent, but still. In the comments, I have included a photo of the skull in question, and a photo of the skull of classical Homo erectus. In any case, the study discusses a newly discovered OH 83 partial skull from Tanzania, dated to about 60-32 thousand years ago. Analysis of the morphology indicates that OH 83 belongs to early Homo sapiens.
