Pure exposure effect: a change in preference toward an object through frequent contacts. The pure exposure effect is the phenomenon of a change in affective attitude toward an object after increasing the number of contacts with it, without conscious recognition of the stimulus. Discovered by Zajonc in 1968, it triggered a discussion on the links between intellectual cognition and emotional life.
