The trial of 18 people suspected of organizing illegal crossings of the English Channel for migrants is underway in Lille. The suspects, mostly Iraqi-Kurdish, earned as much as €100,000 for transporting 50 migrants. In the operation, 39 people were detained and smuggling equipment was confiscated.
