Archaic heritage in the genomes of modern Africans: new findings on race mixing.
Go to the source page
A study of the genomes of four sub-Saharan populations indicates a significant contribution of archaic heritage to the DNA of today's blacks, derived from hominid populations prior to the division of Neanderthals and Homo sapiens. It has been discovered that 2-19% of their genetics is derived from archaic hominin, which may be relevant to adaptive introgression.
