Berlin plans to lease new properties in Lichtenberg, Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf and Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg to accommodate more refugees. The plan is meeting resistance among local authorities. Security at one of the facilities in Tegel is being questioned, and the Senate has been given the go-ahead to bear the cost of more than 1.32 billion euros for the new refugee sites.
