More than three separate introgression events from a lineage similar to the Denisovans to the ancestors of modern populations of Southeast Asia and Oceania

As recently as 20,000 years ago, the ancestors of the modern populations of Southeast Asia and Oceania mixed genes with hominids, the Denisovans. Such events also took place there earlier. White people do not possess the genes of Denisovans. Studies of ancient hominid genomes indicate genetic exchanges between different species. These discoveries are changing our view of human evolution and affecting today's populations.
